Asus earlier this month announced two new 5.5-inch Android smartphones: the ZenFone 2, and the ZenFone Zoom. In case you find 5.5-inch screens too big, Asus will reportedly also have a 5-inch ZenFone 2 model, though the same can't be said about the ZenFone Zoom.

According to Taiwanese website Sogi, the 5-inch ZenFone 2 could be released shortly after the 5.5-inch one, which is expected to hit shelves around the world starting March. While the 5.5-inch ZenFone 2 will have variants with up to 4 GB of RAM, it's not clear if that's also the case when it comes to the 5-inch device. Anyway, we're expecting the smaller ZenFone 2 to be visually similar to the 5.5-inch smartphone, while sharing some of its features, including: Android 5.0 Lollipop with Zen UI, LTE connectivity, 13 MP rear camera, 5 MP front-facing camera, and a quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor.

The 5.5-inch ZenFone 2 will be sold for prices starting at about $200, which means we should expect the 5-inch model to be even cheaper. Last year, Asus released ZenFones with 4-inch, 5-inch, and 6-inch screens, all of which were well received, so we're not surprised to see the company wanting to keep its strategy unchanged in this regard.

P.S.: There are no images to show the 5-inch Asus ZenFone 2. The handset pictured in this article is the 5.5-inch model.
